Following the popularity of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3 in India Xiaomi is back with the successor of the same also known as Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, but does the Redmi Note 4 live up to the hype or is there something more than meets the eye let’s find out as the is our review of the Redmi Note 4 that too after 2 weeks Let’s get started..!
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Review
Build and Design
As always let’s start with the Build and by no surprise the Redmi Note 4 is built like a tank and is one of the most exquisite and steardier device that we have encountered in this price segment, the metal casing gives the Redmi 3s prime a premium feel which most manufacturers skip in this budget segment and while we are done appreciating that lets take a look at the placement of the device and on the right we have the Power Lock and unlock key and the volume rockers both are quite steardy and are built like a tank on the left we have the Hybrid sim tray, at the bottom We have the micro USB port and primary Microphone and on top Thank Jesus we have the the 3.5MM Headphone Jack, Secondary Microphone and an IR blaster a rarity in Flagship’s these days, and on the back we have the 13MP camera single LED flash,FingerprintScanner and MI branding and at the front We have a 5″ Full HD IPS display, 5Mp Camera, Earpiece, Some Sensors and three Capacitive buttons which are backlit thankfully!
The Redmi Note 4 comes with a 5″ Full HD IPS display with 401PPI and aa expected the display is well saturated and the has Wide viewing angles and unless you are a huge Pixel peeper you will not notice any pixels on the screen and while we are discussing about display how can we leave the protection aspect aside and sadly the Redmi Note 4 doesn’t have any series Gorilla Glass protection but Xiaomi says it has 2.5D curved hardened Glass and is less likely to scratch easily!
Under the Hood.
While we are talking about the display why don’t we talk about what’s powering it on and So the Redmi Note 4 comes with a newer Snapdragon 625 Octacore SoC, with 2/3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB onboard storage variants to choose for and the device that we have reviewed is the highest end variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage which is expandable via the hybrid dual sim Slot, and despite the fact SD625 is based on ARM Cortex ARE cores due to its high click speed and 14NM fabrication the device is quite fast and slick in daily operations and the SoC coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage the experience is just amazing and by the time I was using the device i never felt that iam holding a smartphone that is just priced under 15k, and it doesn’t matter what iam doing with the device either it’s games or apps you name it the device can handle most of the titles that you throw at it, that to with ease and the best part the device doesn’t heat up at all thanks to the 14NM fabrication!
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Xiaomi’s now familiar MIUI 8 on top and so MIUI 8 is the same and different in many aspects than any other Chinese skins and so there is no app drawer all the apps Sit on the Homescreen and there is loads of Customization available, there is This theme support and there are plethora of features that we cannot cover in this video but in a nut shell MIUI 8 is faster then ever and has load’s of features but if it’s still not your cup of tea, then you can quickly switch to something like the Google now or nova launcher which is the beauty of Android but either way you will be satisfied with the Software experience of the Redmi Note 4..!
We get to the Camera’s and the Redmi Note 4 boast’s a Solid set of Cameras, the primary 13mp f2.0 camera performs well in daylight and produces great pictures and acceptable 1080p videos but as is the case with every Budget smartphone it also feels short in low-light but again the front 5 MP shooter is great for occasional Selfies and will probably fill the hunger of the ongoing selfie trend!
Battery life and Conclusion
The Battery-life the Redmi 3s prime sports a mammoth 4100 mAh battery and as expected the combo of low power sucking 1080p display and the power efficient snapdragon 625 SoC results in the Device performing exceptionally good in battery life and even a heavy user can get through one and half day easily but if you are a moderate user then we wouldn’t be surprised if this device lasts you a couple of days and similar was the case with us as it lasted is 2 full days with 8 hours of SOT and the standby times are quite good too but if you kill your Device on that second day there is quick charge support on this device but sadly the device comes with only 5V – 2AMP charger out of the box which is OK! Considering the price.
So what do we feel about the Redmi Note 4, in our opinion the Redmi Note 4 is not just another budget Smartphone from China but is one of its kind with Good display, Great camera, Great build quality Great software experience and with exceptional battery life the Redmi Note 4 is a smartphone to beat in 2017 and for just a price of 9999/-INR to 12999/-INR it is undoubtedly the best budget Smartphone under 15k and so there you have it the Redmi Note 4 in all its glory but do you agree with what we say if not what is that you dont agree, let us know your thoughts in the Comments Section below and help us out with some sharing on your favorite Social Network!
